The Big Bang Addiction

34

I wonder if the first thoughts you had before reading this blog entry title were anything along the lines of God, science or drugs? Anyhow it is obvious to those who know The Big Bang Theory from seeing the picture above of the word 'bazinga' haha...

So these past couple of months I have been glued to watching the TV show, The Big Bang Theory. To those of you who have never watched the show I will give you a tiny synopsis of what its about!

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. It revolves around the lives of five characters living in Pasadena, California; roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) whom are both physicists; Penny a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall and Sheldon and Leonard's equally geeky friends, mechanical engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali. Throughout the programme the guys' intellect bounces off of comic effect with Penny's common sense and social skills.

Other than Friends and New Girl, this is my favourite sitcom to watch on TV.

At first I was bombarded with all the scientific terms but I think I was trying to hard to understand it all when really I didn't need to!

I find Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon to be an absolute delight, I definitely have a soft spot for him as he is so dry humoured and just one of those guys who is a complete geek and an ultimately frustrating best friend and roommate for Leonard but he is just hilarious. Throughout watching the show up to the present season, Sheldon's character has grown on me tremendously that its got to the point that I'm quoting him in real life situations (which unfortunately the majority of my friends don't get because they haven't watched the show)!

I've found myself being quite addicted to the show which is to no surprise really, if it makes me laugh then I am more inclined to want to watch it. Do you ever feel that you prefer watching more of a particular genre of TV show/movie? I think I definitely prefer comedy and all of the characters have such bold personalities that make them funny in their individual ways. I think that some people may be put off watching this show because it may come across as being too "geeky" for them that they won't find it funny. I'm not at all a science geek but I am so hooked on it! If any of you are thinking of watching it then seriously give it a go :)

With most TV shows and films I watch I tend to either really loved it or not be bothered by it, I was always the child that would watch a Disney film over and over and over again. I've no idea why I was/am like this but with the majority of films I can recite every line of the script...is that embarrassing or cool in a slightly weird and nerdy way? Do any of you tend to do this with the TV shows and films you watch? Or even books, do you know them word for word?

I'd like to think its a cool but nerdy thing to do as I've always done it. I still insist on watching the old classic films like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Dirty Dancing despite me knowing the stories well and pretty much the full script- its fun! I remember driving my cousin mad once because he didn't believe that I knew every word of the Harry Potter films, so I obviously had to prove him wrong and recited every single word of The Chamber of Secrets because it happened to be on TV that evening- haha oops!

Anyway, now I've caught up with The Big Bang Theory I'm anticipating a new season soon because I have the urge to watch them all over again (I need to get a life, wow). So I have now resorted to trying out old TV shows I didn't start watching from when they were first released, at the moment I'm on season 1 of Supernatural and I am loving it- I love both Sam and Dean I can't pick just one obviously! So I guess I better get cracking on with it...

As always I hope you enjoyed reading and thank you :)
