Happy November everyone! I always feel that November is pretty much the long road to Christmas and I'm starting to get a bit impatient with putting up the festive decorations but it's also the last month to enjoy the last dregs of autumn, my favourite season...
This month has had it's up's and down's but a few days ago I found out that I got 91% on my first assignment on my OU course- very happy with that but insistent on not getting too big for my boots! One baby step at a time I think, of course I'm going to try my best but I shouldn't punish myself if I don't do as well as I hope to- can't be good at everything sadly haha...
Anyhow, October was the best month reading for me! I'm not quite sure what happened I seemed to have had plenty of time and ultimately read some brilliant books. So here are the books I read with links below them that will take you directly to my reviews, I hope you can find some recommendations there! I excluded Doctor Faustus as my review will be up later on~
A wonderful grand total of eleven books- how did that happen?! Well, actually one of them was a play I had to read for my course but it can still count right?!
I think my favourite book this month will have to go to Way Down Dark by James Smythe (thank you very much to Hodder & Stoughton for sending me this!) followed by The Selection series by Kiera Cass.
Way Down Dark is truly a unique dystopian book with a huge cliffhanger and I'm biting my nails waiting to find out what happens in the next book!
With The Selection series I was a little apprehensive to begin them purely because I thought they would be too girly and predictable for me but I thoroughly enjoyed them with the dystopian twist- they were a juicy read! However, I'm not sure I will read The Heir purely because I started a ten chapter extract I was given and I'm not sure I want to in a way re-read a similar story, so for now it's been put aside!
Many thanks to Faye Rogers for involving me in the Out of Orbit blog tour by Chele Cooke, which you can read here, be sure to check out the giveaway post too as it contains an Amazon gift voucher up for grabs too!
The one book I wasn't a fan of and put down a few months ago was Look Who's Back by Timur Vermes, it just wasn't what I expected but I felt obliged to finish it considering I was sent it.
I was a good girl this month and didn't buy as many books as I originally was going to, I mean when i had a bit of a rough patch I wanted to blow all my money on books because well books make everything better right? Good because that's what I told myself when I bought these books hehe...
I was sent and have just started reading A Banquet of Consequences, although I've never read and Inspector Lynley book I remember watching the series on TV with my Gran. I'm loving it so far and the cover is simply gorgeous!
I can't wait to read all of these particularly Black Widow: Forever Red- it looks and sounds amazing, plus who doesn't love Marvel?!
I've been sent various ebooks from Netgalley recently, so I'm planning on an update post on them Kindle books very soon!
I have some exciting plans for November, it was my boyfriend's birthday on the 1st November but sadly I couldn't be with him but the this Sunday we're spending a couple of days in London and I'm so excited! Today I ordered him a couple of t-shirts today from Debenhams and he likes Batman so I got him a glow in the dark Batman mug and a Funko Pop! Batman figure. All I want to get him now is some chocolates, wasn't sure what else to get him but Christmas is around the corner so I want to leave myself some ideas haha.
With regards to books I'm currently reading All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, so far its rather good but I'm only about a quarter of the way through!
What are you all up to in November? Are you excited for Christmas? What are you planning on reading, any festive reads I should get my hands on? Let me know in the comments I love to hear what you're all up to!
